Stress Awareness training & On-site massage

Live Well Massage has developed a unique forward thinking concept for your team that will directly benefit productivity and the mental wellbeing of those using the service. By bringing awareness to what stress is from a physical perspective, its aim is to reduce absenteeism and to provide an independent support service within your workplace.

About one-third or 30 percent of human life is spent working. The average working week consists of 40 hours of work, meaning most people spend about 25 to 30 years working… and that doesn’t include getting to and fro! With the rise in peoples commute times, the working week is extending into general life, stress is becoming a serious issue, often with huge ramifications for health and wellbeing. Employers who consider the wellbeing of their staff can seek to reduce absenteeism and improve staff retention.

If reading that makes your forehead tighten, your shoulders rise and makes you feel generally stressed, then consider how that percentage of your life can be improved. You are likely to be very familiar with the areas that hold tension in your body. Our neck and shoulders carry the weight of the world.

While bringing awareness to people about what stress is and its impact, as a massage therapist I believe that massage is an excellent component of one’s overall personal Live Well Be Happy programme. Integrating body, mind and spirit, massage can significantly reduce physical, mental and emotional fatigue and stress, resulting in a strong overall feeling of energetic rejuvenation and healthy well-being.

Stress awareness sessions combined with on-site wellbeing

I believe that bringing awareness to the physical nature of stress and discussing both its positive and negative effects people can start to become mindful of its impact in their own lives.

Everyone talks about stress but do they know what it is and how far it affects us? I offer ‘Stress Awareness’ sessions within the workplace where I clearly demonstrate what stress is and how much impact it can be having on the lives of your staff.

The sessions are one hour and are suited to groups of 10-20.

Key points covered are:

  • What stress is
  • Hunger
  • Dehydration
  • Mindfulness
  • The illusion of multitasking
  • Steps to make change stick

he sessions discuss a whole range of options to suit individuals and ideas for how to make this awareness a part of their day to day wellbeing.

As part of my availability when onsite offering ‘Stress Awareness’ sessions, staff can take time out during their day for an individual 15 or 30 minute massage or talk that’s suited to their personal needs, in a private room, returning to their workstation recharged and ready for the challenges ahead. Massage is key stress reducer as it works to reduce an overworked nervous system.

I also offer 1:1 talks after the session. The subject matter can trigger many questions that potentially attendees would not want to ask in public. By offering a 1:1 space, I can discuss a personalised approach with individuals.

“I am not taking my clothes off at work!”

  • Don’t worry, you don’t have to. On-site massage offers a completely hassle free way to enjoy the benefits of a massage in the workplace, designed to reduce muscle tension and stress. This is done fully-clothed so it is a less intrusive massage which uses a series of acupressure points and stretches on the back, neck and shoulder area, leaving you feeling relaxed, invigorated and ready to return to work with renewed concentration. It can take 15 or 30 minutes. It is performed on a specially designed chair and is ideal to be carried out in any work place, during a coffee break.

Smiley staff

  • The person-to-person contact involved in massage helps to release natural ‘feel-good’ chemicals in the body such as endorphins, serotonin and dopamine. It’s guaranteed to relax and revitalise your staff and put smiles on their faces.
  • In an era when we are working longer hours than ever it is crucial that staff have a moment that is truly their own. This is especially so in jobs where staff come under constant pressure from clients e.g. call centres, financial services, sales and retail.
  • Providing your staff with on-site massage is a way to show them how much you care. Remember, positive actions speak louder than words!

“I cannot justify the time or cost...”

  • You could look at this another way. Can you afford not to provide the service?
  • Stress Awareness training is an essential step to bring to live the physical impact of stress and gives your employees the keys to understanding how it might be manifesting in their lives.
  • As part of the training offers 1:1 support, any issues raised by the sessions or concerns that individuals may have can be addressed confidentially. I am fully insured as a psychotherapist as well as a massage therapist.
  • From a massage perspective, corporate chair massage has been proven to significantly relieve stress as well as helping to prevent work-related disorders such as Repetitive Strain Injury, reducing absenteeism and healthcare costs, while also improving employee morale, increasing productivity and efficiency and creating a more positive work environment.

Know what stress is to de-stress

  • Live Well Massage is currently offering Stress Awareness training for those businesses interested in promoting wellbeing at work. The talks are one hour and suited to groups of 10-20.
  • As part of the Stress Awareness training I offer 1:1 sessions post talk where individuals can confidentially discuss any personal questions that they might have.
  • Also available are individual 15 or 30 minute massages booked in 20/40 minute increments and can be pre-scheduled prior to or separate to a Stress Awareness event.
  • In today’s market, employers are looking to provide cost-effective HR benefits to their employees. Combining Stress Awareness training with onsite massage treatments is a forward thinking concept to companies that will directly benefit the productivity and mental wellbeing of those utilising the service.

Why use Live Well Massage?

Live Well Massage aims to promote achievable wellbeing as an integrated, natural part of a good working life. In many ways, massage is a quick win, it can engage employees in a conversation about the physical being which leads to an understanding of their state of mind and the possibility of further recommendations to help build wellbeing.

By offering Stress Awareness training at work, I hope to start the process with people to understand what is happening to their bodies from a physical perspective and the potential ramifications at work and home. I believe that bringing specific awareness to such a broad subject – stress – the process of change can begin.

I am also a psychotherapist. This does not mean I will be actively entering into a talking therapy state. It does mean that many of the skills required to be a psychotherapist are employed in achieving a rapid confidential rapport with your employees.

Positive effects at work

  • Improved mental and emotional well-being, which helps with conditions such as anxiety and depression.
  • Improved concentration – leading to increased output
  • Lowers blood pressure and heart rate.
  • Relief of chronic pain caused by conditions such as repetitive strain injury (think ‘mouse arm’) and back pain to reduce absenteeism.
